IV International Conservation Conference entitled: Problems of museums related to the preservation and conservation of collections, Szreniawa October 8-9, 2010

The 4th International Conservation Conference Problems of Museums with Preservation and Conservation of Collections was held on 8-9 October 2010 in collaboration with the Polish National Committee of the International Council of Museums ICOM.

The conference focused on conservation problems resulting from contemporary forms of presentation of historic buildings. The aim of the conference was to exchange experiences and to highlight the qualitative problems of conservation and renovation processes in the face of the increasingly popular idea of a “living museum”.

The conference was also possible thanks to the personal involvement of President of the Polish National Committee of the International Council of Museums ICOM, Prof. Andrzej Tomaszewski.

The participants of the 4th Conservation Conference supported Prof. Tomaszewski’s motion for creating higher education studies in Poland in the field of conservation of historical objects of engineering art. The motion included an idea to establish a postgraduate study in the field of conservation of historical objects of engineering art at the Poznań University of Technology, in cooperation with the National Museum of Agriculture in Szreniawa. The above study should lead in the future to the creation of a full university conservation study programme at this University.
